Chris Kirubi’s Son-In-Law Andrew Musangi Appointed to Board of Late Billionaire’s Centum Real Estate

UGANDA, Kampala | Real Muloodi News | Andrew Musangi, the late businessman Chis Kirubi’s son-in-law, has been appointed to Centum Real Estate’s board of directors.

Centum Real Estate, a subsidiary of Centum Investment Company, has developments spread across Kenya and Uganda, and is listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE). One of Centum’s prime developments in Uganda is the stunning Pearl Marina Estates, comprised of the 256 Bella Vista Apartments, the Mirabella Residences, La Perla Bungalows, and the Riviera TownHouses with a total of 1,243 residential units.

By March 2021, Centum Real Estate had recorded a 20 per cent increase in residential unit sale deposits, totalling Shs 1.8 billion, compared to the Shs 1.5 billion recorded in the previous year.

Andrew Musangi will be overseeing the multi-billion shilling real estate company and its 4,528 housing units and land spread across the Vipingo Development Project, Palm Ridge Apartments, and many more.

Chris Kirubi was a well-known entrepreneur and investor. His interests included real estate, insurance, media, and manufacturing. He owned DHL Express Kenya, International House in Nairobi & Haco Industries, and controlled nearly one-third of Centum’s shares.

Other notable names of Centum Real Estate include Samuel Kariuki, the Managing Director, Mr Arthur Adeya, the Technical Director, James Ruitha, the Chairman and independent non-executive director, and many others.

James Mworia, the Director and Centum CEO, said: 

“Andrew brings considerable legal and commercial experience to the board of Centum Re. He has been in active legal practice for 26 years and is the Chairman of GenAfrica Asset Managers and the Chairman of Public Procurement Regulatory Board.”

Besides his new position on the Centum board, Mr Andrew Musangi also serves as the Chairman of the Jubilee Party’s National Elections Board, GenAfrica Asset Managers, and the Public Procurement Regulatory Board. He is also a managing partner at Mukite Musangi and Company Advocates, which he founded in 1998.

His legal focus is corporate and commercial law, where he has over 26 years of experience with public-private partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, and so much more. He holds an upper second class honours LLB from the University of Hull (UK), where he graduated in 1993 and was admitted to the bar shortly after.
