UGANDA, Kololo | Real Muloodi News | After an agreement signed between Marriott International and Portman Square Limited, the Four Points by Sheraton plans to debut in Uganda by 2022, Daily Monitor reports.

The Four Points Sheraton seeks to deliver the brand’s promise of ‘travel reinvented’ by offering travellers luxury and elegance. The development expects to resurrect the local hospitality industry and boost bookings which currently stand at that 28%.

Portman Square Limited will manage the hotel, which will operate under a franchise agreement. The owners and developers of the hotel, Portman Square Limited, hope to replicate the successes they achieved in Kenya and Tanzania, notably the acclaimed Four Points by Sheraton Nairobi Airport. The Four Points brand has seen excellent success in the East African Region.

The Director of Development, East Africa, Marriott International Yasin Munshi, explained that since easing the restrictions on international travel, the hospitality industry had seen a new vivacity.

“We are excited to debut the Four Points by Sheraton brand in Uganda and further strengthen our relationship with Portman Square. Just like at other Four Points hotels globally, you can expect signature touches in Kampala. Travellers can find the timeless style and comfort they’re looking for with genuine service. Each hotel offers a familiar place with an authentic sense of the local, and friendly service where guests can relax and unwind, watch local sports,” Munshi said.

Additionally, Vivek Mathur from Portman Square Limited said:

“Having seen the success of the brand elsewhere in the region, we believe the Four Points by Sheraton Kampala will become a hub for the modern business and leisure travelers looking for an effortless experience.”

The new Sheraton Kampala will employ 150 people and further impact the job market through indirect suppliers, third party affiliates and partnerships. The hotel has come at a good time for Uganda. 74.4% of employees from this industry were declared jobless in 2020 as a result of the pandemic.

The hotel will have 142 rooms with a modern vintage design. In addition, the hotel will include an all-dining restaurant, lounge, fitness centre, swimming pool and 600 square meters of meeting space. The hotel has plans to offer its signature program – Best BrewsTM.

The projected property location is in the Kololo Hill area, with easy access to Nakasero hill and the central business district of Kampala. Additionally, the hotel property is approximately 40km from Entebbe International Airport.
