UGANDA, Kasese | Real Muloodi News | Newly appointed Prime Minister of Uganda Robinah Nabbanja, instructed the ministers of Luwero Rwenzori Affairs, ICT and National Guidance to identify land to resettle the displaced people in Kasese.

Two weeks ago, floods displaced over 20 households in Kasese, who are currently camped at the Humanist school in the Rukoki sub-county. Yet, not long ago, floods displaced people in Kasese district, from over 200 households. Most of these families have languished in the Muhokya internally displaced people’s camp for over ten months.

The minister said this while visiting displaced people in the Muhokya internally displaced people’s camp, under the direction of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

On the same visit, the Minister of Disaster and Preparedness, Hilary Onek, tasked Rosette Nakabugo, the commissioner in the ministry, to work with leaders in the area to find land and report back to the government to expedite the process of acquisition.

Beatrice Anywar, the Minister of State for Environment who accompanied the Prime Minister, encouraged local leaders to work together to speed up the process so that displaced people may restart their lives.

Nabanja also gave out some relief to the distressed families, and it included 40,000kgs of maize flour, 2000kgs of beans, 2000kgs of sugar and 100 boxes of soap. The Humanist school in Rukoki sub-county disbursed the relief goods.

Most families welcomed the news concerning the resettlement, as their families would reap the benefits of the new location.

Elizabeth Biira, a resident in Kasese district said that the development is an outstanding achievement because she will resume her farming once the land is acquired.

The plan by the government had many of the displaced people excitedly looking forward to the day when they can return to farming on the new land and be able to build back their homes.
