Kiggundu’s venture is in collaboration with Moses Muhangi, the President of the Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF), with whom he signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance the boxing sport in Uganda.

“We have officially opened the Ham Fitness and Boxing Gym,” Kiggundu stated. “Our equipment boasts a modern ring, punching bags, body rider machines, and world-class gym wear, among other amenities.”

Kiggundu also expressed his ambition for Nakivubo Stadium to become a central location for sports enthusiasts, aiming to host significant boxing events and continental championships in Uganda.

Moses Muhangi praised Kiggundu for his dedication to investing in the sports sector, particularly boxing.

“Many of the things Ham is doing are supposed to be done by the Government. He has given Nakivubo Stadium a magnificent look. As Uganda, we must celebrate him for his massive investment,” Muhangi remarked.

Nakivubo Stadium has been a significant site for boxing in Uganda since the 1950s, notably housing the Kampala Boxing Club (KBC) established by Tom Kawere.

The stadium has been instrumental in the careers of boxing legends like Peter Grace Sseruwagi, Ayub Kalule, John ‘The Beast’ Mugabi, and others, and has hosted memorable boxing events at both amateur and professional levels.

Muhangi underscored the importance of the new gym for current and future boxers, urging them to utilise this advanced facility to achieve global recognition.
