UGANDA, Lyantonde | Real Muloodi News | Police in Lyantonde District have arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of murdering his father because of a land dispute.

The suspect, Vincent Nuwahereza, allegedly killed his 55 year old father, Valentino Turyatunga, a resident of Bikokola A Village, Mpumudde Sub County in Lyantonde District.

Enos Byamukama, a neighbour and eyewitness who reported the incident to police on Thursday 10th November, 2022, claims that the two got into a fight as they were eating dinner, after the deceased refused the son’s request to sell a portion of the family land.

“The boy suggested to his father to sell part of the family land to enable him to buy a boda boda. When the father rejected the issue, the angry son picked a club and hit the father on the head, leaving him unconscious,” Mr Byamukama said on Friday last week.

He added that neighbours rushed Mr Turyatunga to Lyantonde Hospital to save him, however he passed away en route to the hospital.

Mr Muhammad Nsubuga, the Southern Regional Police spokesperson, verified the incident on November 11th. According to Mr Nsubuga, Vincent Nuwahereza is set to be charged with murder when police investigations are complete.

“Those young boys don’t want to work and believe that they will get free things from their fathers,” Mr Nsubuga observed.

Mr Nsubuga advised young people to avoid negative groups, drug consumption, and alcohol.
