UGANDA, Kampala | Real Muloodi News | After ten years of pursuing justice from the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, Leonard Kahweza has been compensated with USh22 million.
On May 8, 2012, Kahweza, a struggling 65-year-old woman, paid USh10 million for land on block 516, plot 17 at Busiro Kasanje from Francis Tukundane.
She paid USh9.5 million in cash, with the remainder due when the land title is adequately transferred into her name.
However, it was later established that the subject land did not exist, and although Tukundane had pledged to compensate her for it, he never did.
She sought justice from several government authorities but to no effect.
On November 30, 2021, Ms Kahweza reported the situation to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, and the probe about the case was carried out.
Tukundane was arrested and imprisoned on January 14, 2022, awaiting court trial.
However, on Monday, January 17, 2022, the suspect requested an equitable solution to the complaint. Kahweza was rewarded with USh22,166,590 after the two reached an agreement.
