UGANDA, KampalaReal Muloodi News | A fire broke out at the Speke Resort Munyonyo Hotel Kampala at around 3 pm on Friday 17th February 2023, causing chaos among high-profile guests and staff.

The blaze affected about ten rooms and one of the grass-thatched structures, leaving some guests’ belongings burnt to ashes.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or deaths, and the police’s fire brigade managed to put out the flames.

Hotel management has since spoken out about the incident, calling it a minor fire caused by a building extension contractor.

Sudhir Ruparelia, the hotel owner, stated that the fire did not disrupt operations and only affected the entrance of one of the staff exit points.

“We had a fire (incident) at the staff entrance and exit caused by the contractor on the building going on. No one is injured and above all it is very minor. And it has not affected the daily operations at the resort,” Sudhir says.

However, the full extent of the damage is yet to be established.
