UGANDA, Kampala | Real Muloodi News | The Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, Rt Rev Moses Banja, has announced that the Church will consider requests from Anglican-founded schools aiming to establish new campuses on Church land.

During a recent meeting at Namirembe Diocese, Bishop Banja disclosed that institutions like King’s College Budo and Mengo Senior Secondary School are eager to expand their reach and enhance access to quality education.

King’s College Budo plans to establish a new campus in Ndejje-Namasuba, while Mengo Senior Secondary School aims to develop a private boarding school in Buloba, Wakiso District.

Bishop Banja’s announcement was met with enthusiastic approval from members of the Diocesan Synod, who anticipate that these new campuses will alleviate the challenges parents face in securing placements at esteemed institutions.

Acknowledging the increasing demand for enrollment in renowned schools like Gayaza High School, King’s College Budo, and Mengo Senior Secondary School, Bishop Banja emphasised the necessity for expansion.

He highlighted the constraints posed by limited space, prompting the Church’s commitment to analyse the requests and provide feedback during the upcoming May 2024 Diocesan Synod meeting.

Efforts to obtain comments from the concerned schools were unsuccessful as administrators cited a preference for weekday engagements.

However, Mr. Saul Kintu, a Diocesan Synod member, advocated for maintaining the high standards of education while expanding.

He referenced the success of Gayaza Junior School Jjungo campus in Kasanje Sub-county, which has widened access to quality education.

Ms Roseline Biingi Kawiso, the president of the Namirembe Diocese Mothers’ Union, expressed support for the initiative, foreseeing an increased enrollment of Anglican students.

She lauded the potential of new campuses to cater to a larger demographic within the Anglican community.

Among the notable Anglican-founded schools are King’s College Budo, Budo Junior School, Gayaza Junior School, Gayaza High School, Iganga SS, Ndejje SS, Bweranyangi Girls’ SS, Mengo SS, Mbarara High School, Kigezi High School, Busoga College Mwiri, Nabumali High School, Sir Samuel Baker High School, and Wanyange Girls SS.

These institutions have played significant roles in shaping Uganda’s educational landscape and continue to strive for excellence in academia.
