UGANDA, Kampala | Real Muloodi News | Architect Brian Matsiko has built a professional reputation in Uganda’s architectural sector through his work on residential, commercial and institutional projects, while also maintaining a parallel career in music under the stage name Faymous.
Trained as a professional architect, Brian Matsiko remains primarily engaged in architectural design and project delivery, even as his music gains public attention.
Brian Matsiko is a graduate of Makerere University, where he completed a five-year Bachelor of Architecture program. His academic training covered architectural design, construction technology, urban planning and professional practice. After university, he joined Arch Avenue Architects, a Kampala-based firm involved in architectural design, interior design, planning and construction supervision.
At Arch Avenue, he has contributed to multiple projects ranging from private residences to commercial developments. His responsibilities include concept design, preparation of architectural drawings, coordination with engineers, and on-site supervision during construction. Firm profiles describe his work as focused on functional layouts, cost-conscious design and climate-responsive solutions suited to Uganda’s urban environment.
“Architecture requires attention to detail and discipline from concept to construction,” Brian has said when speaking about professional practice. “Every decision affects how people use and experience a space.”
While architecture remains his core profession, Brian is also active in the music industry as Faymous. He released his first professional music project in 2018 and later took a break to focus on career development. In 2025, he returned with new releases and collaborations with established Ugandan artists, expanding his public profile beyond architecture.
Industry colleagues note that Brian continues to meet professional obligations in architecture despite his music career. His architectural work has progressed alongside Kampala’s growing demand for well-planned buildings and supervised construction.
“The construction industry does not allow shortcuts,” he has said. “Projects must meet standards, timelines and client expectations.”
As Uganda’s cities expand, he represents a group of young professionals contributing to the built environment while engaging in creative pursuits beyond their primary fields. His work in architecture remains grounded in formal training and professional practice, with music serving as a separate creative outlet rather than a replacement.
With ongoing architectural projects and continued involvement in design practice, Brian remains active in shaping Uganda’s urban spaces while maintaining a visible presence in the country’s creative scene.
