UGANDA, Kampala | Real Muloodi News | Namibia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, expressed admiration for Hamis Kiggundu’s Nakivubo Stadium project during her visit to the sporting arena following the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Kampala.

Kiggundu, a renowned Ugandan businessman, shared the news on his Twitter handle, stating that Nandi-Ndaitwah, the first female Namibian president in waiting, was impressed by the Nakivubo Stadium project and invited him to undertake a similar venture in Namibia.

The NAM Summit, held under the theme “Deepening Cooperation for Global Affluence,” facilitated discussions and collaborations among member nations. Nandi-Ndaitwah led a Namibian delegation to the summit, emphasising inclusive development and cooperation among developing countries.

During the summit, Nandi-Ndaitwah lauded the existing strong bilateral relations between Namibia and Uganda.

She conveyed a special message from Namibian President Hage Geingob to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni.

The leaders discussed ways to explore and enhance bilateral and diplomatic relations between the two countries, focusing on mutual prosperity and progress.

Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed a keen interest in strengthening commercial diplomacy between Namibia and Uganda.

The Namibian Deputy Prime Minister highlighted upcoming business collaborations and opportunities in various sectors, including agriculture, minerals, green hydrogen, fishing, and tourism.

Following the summit, Nandi-Ndaitwah, in addressing journalists at Entebbe International Airport, reiterated Namibia’s commitment to warm diplomatic ties with Uganda.

She emphasised the country’s focus on strengthening commercial diplomacy, leading to the appointment of Ugandan businessman Godfrey Kirumira as Namibia’s Honorary Consul.

Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah disclosed plans for a team of business people from Uganda to travel to Namibia, fostering collaboration and benefiting both friendly countries.

Expected to assume the Namibian presidency in November, she highlighted Uganda as a reliable friend and expressed the desire to continue cooperation.

The Honorary Consul, Kirumira, assured that Ugandans were eager to explore business and investment opportunities in Namibia.

He encouraged Ugandan business people to seize the moment and benefit from collaboration between the two countries.

Kampala State Minister Kabuye Kyofatogabye welcomed Namibia’s participation in the NAM/G77 summits, emphasising the continuous strengthening of brotherhood between the two countries.

The NAM summit, themed “Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence,” ran from January 15-20, with the G77 summit, themed “Leaving No One Behind,” scheduled for January 21-23 at the same venue.

Namibia’s active engagement in these summits reflects its commitment to collaborative efforts and economic partnerships, aligning with the goals of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).
