UGANDA, Kampala Real Muloodi News | The Inspectorate of Government (IGG) has investigated the Uganda Land Commission (ULC) offices in Kampala over alleged fraudulent land transactions. The probe follows multiple complaints from individuals who sold land to the government through ULC but experienced delayed payments.

Whistleblowers and insiders have alleged that payments were made for non-existent land, prompting the IGG to intervene.

Inspector General of Government (IGG) Beti Kamya confirmed the investigation, citing numerous complaints from across the country. Some claims date back several decades.

“We have so many complaints and allegations from people who have offered to sell their land to the government under the Land Fund Programme,” Kamya said.

She noted that some landowners had submitted titles and completed government valuations but remained unpaid. Others allegedly faced pressure to use brokers, some of whom were ULC staff members.

“Someone has a piece of land and approaches ULC directly, but they are encouraged to deal with brokers. Eventually, the money is shared, and some brokers turn out to be Commission staff,” Kamya stated.

Andrew Nyumba, Secretary of the Uganda Land Commission, acknowledged the investigation but downplayed its significance.

“This is one of their exercises to monitor and execute their mandate. The Inspectorate of Government routinely conducts investigations, and this is one of them,” Nyumba said.

The IGG continues to collect evidence as the investigation into ULC offices progresses.
