UGANDA, Kampala | Real Muloodi News | Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) is taking a proactive approach to alleviate traffic congestion by planning the removal of five roundabouts in the city.

The roundabouts set for demolition include the prominent Mulago roundabout, Sheraton roundabout, and Standard Chartered Bank roundabout, among others.

Traffic gridlock has been a long-standing concern for Kampala residents. Simon Kasyate, the KCCA spokesperson, stated that the decision to eliminate these roundabouts is a testament to KCCA’s commitment to finding innovative solutions to address the city’s escalating traffic challenges.

These particular roundabouts have consistently acted as bottlenecks in the city’s road network, causing daily frustrations for commuters and hindering efficient transportation.

Simon Kasyate emphasised that this move is part of a broader strategy aimed at streamlining traffic flow, reducing congestion, and enhancing overall urban mobility as Kampala embarks on its journey towards becoming a smart city.

The project is set to commence shortly, with meticulous planning to minimise disruptions during the construction phase.

KCCA encourages residents and commuters to stay updated on the project’s progress and explore alternative routes during the construction period.
