UGANDA, Fort Portal | Real Muloodi News | King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV of Tooro Kingdom has cautioned political leaders against using Tooro Kingdom land matters for political gain.

In his New Year address delivered at Karuzika Royal Palace in Fort Portal on Tuesday 31st December 2024, the King alleged that some individuals with political ambitions are spreading falsehoods about potential evictions from kingdom land to undermine its leadership.

The King reassured his subjects that no evictions would occur and urged kingdom land officers to educate residents on acquiring proper land documentation.

We must ensure our people understand the legal steps to secure their rights to Tooro Kingdom land,he said.

In addition to addressing land concerns, King Oyo emphasized the importance of combating HIV/AIDS and encouraged parents to instill life skills in their children during school holidays.

The monarch also highlighted the Kingdom’s 2024 achievements, including advancements in education, the construction of an ICT center set to open soon, the establishment of model farms to support agricultural knowledge, and efforts to boost tourism in the region.

Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire, the Third Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Planning and Investment, outlined key initiatives for 2025. These include the renovation of royal tombs, celebrations for the King’s Silver Jubilee, a Kingdom Marathon, an annual health camp, and a clan football tournament.

“The renovation of the royal tombs is a priority as it holds cultural and historical significance for the Kingdom,Rwomiire stated.

Fort Portal North Division MP and State Minister for Primary Health Care Margaret Mugisa Muhanga called on residents to support the Kingdom’s development agenda.

Together, we can help the Kingdom achieve its goals in education, health, and infrastructure,Muhanga said.

The New Year festivities concluded with a royal dinner and prayers led by Bishop Reuben Kisembo of the Rwenzori Diocese.

The King’s message reinforced his commitment to addressing land concerns while steering the Kingdom toward progress in various sectors.
