UGANDA, Wakiso | Real Muloodi News | State Minister for Lands, Dr. Sam Mayanja, has ordered the arrest of Pastor Sserunkuma Lugya for allegedly seizing Govt School Land belonging to Gobero Primary School in Wakiso District. The contested land, approximately 20 hectares, was donated to the school in 1927 by the Mugema, leader of the Nkima Clan.
Authorities report that Pastor Lugya trespassed on the school’s playground and began construction activities without authorization. The incident was brought to the minister’s attention, prompting immediate action. Dr. Mayanja directed law enforcement to arrest the pastor and charge him with trespassing to ensure accountability and protect public property.
A police spokesperson confirmed receiving the minister’s directive and stated that steps are underway to apprehend Pastor Lugya. The law enforcement team is focused on gathering evidence and ensuring compliance with the minister’s orders to preserve the integrity of Govt schoolland Land.
“We are actively investigating the matter and preparing to charge the suspect with trespassing,” the spokesperson said.
The school administration expressed relief at the minister’s intervention. The headmaster of Gobero Primary School highlighted the disruption caused by the unauthorized activity, emphasizing the importance of swift government action to safeguard educational resources.
“The trespassing incident disrupted school operations, but the minister’s directive offers hope for resolution,” the headmaster stated.
The alleged seizure of Govt School Land has sparked outrage among residents and stakeholders. Community members have called for strict measures to address land grabbing and ensure accountability.
“It is unacceptable for anyone to claim public land without following due process,” a resident said. “Such actions undermine public trust and must be addressed decisively.”
