UGANDA, Mbarara | Real Muloodi News | President Yoweri Museveni has commended residents of Mbarara City for their progress in building better homes while urging them to prioritise increasing household incomes. The remarks were made during a brief stop in Mbarara as the President returned from Isingiro District on December 23, 2024.

Speaking about the strides made in improving housing standards, Museveni highlighted the importance of integrating these achievements with economic empowerment.

I thank them for building good homes, but we must continue to focus on improving household incomes,he stated in a message shared on his official X account, formerly known as Twitter.

The President emphasised the pivotal role of the Parish Development Model (PDM) in transforming household incomes and improving livelihoods across Uganda. He expressed his continued commitment to guiding the implementation of the initiative during his upcoming tour of the Ankole region.

“I will soon return on my PDM tour of Ankole to guide them on how the Parish Development Model will improve their incomes, livelihoods, and prosperity,Museveni noted.

The Parish Development Model is a government initiative aimed at addressing poverty and boosting economic growth at the grassroots level. Through the model, the government seeks to enhance agricultural productivity, financial inclusion, and community development.

Residents of Mbarara City have made significant progress in developing modern housing, with many homes reflecting improved construction standards. Local leaders acknowledge the importance of this progress but also emphasise the need to align housing development with economic stability.

“We are proud of the efforts made by the people of Mbarara City in improving their homes, but economic empowerment must go hand in hand with these developments, said a local official.

Museveni highlighted the connection between infrastructure development and sustainable economic growth. He urged residents to integrate economic initiatives with housing improvements, noting that balanced development is key to long-term prosperity.

The President’s planned return to Ankole will focus on practical measures to ensure the successful implementation of the Parish Development Model. Residents of Mbarara City and the surrounding region anticipate the tour will provide clear guidance on addressing economic challenges and maximising the benefits of the program.

In recent years, the government has prioritised infrastructure and economic programs aimed at reducing poverty and improving living standards. The emphasis on housing and household incomes reflects a broader strategy to foster holistic development in urban and rural areas.

Mbarara City, known for its rapid urbanisation, continues to experience growth in housing development. Homes in the city are increasingly built to modern standards, showcasing the community’s commitment to progress. However, balancing these advancements with income generation remains a key priority for residents and the government.

As the President’s upcoming tour approaches, discussions on integrating infrastructure achievements with economic empowerment remain at the forefront. The focus on Mbarara City homes and houses aligns with the broader goal of sustainable development across Uganda.
