Son Kills Father over Land in Namisindwa

UGANDA, Namisindwa Real Muloodi News | In a shocking incident in Namisindwa, a 24-year-old man identified only as Wetaya brutally killed his 70-year-old father in a land dispute.

The deceased has been identified as Wilson Masai, a resident of Bumakuma village Buwatuwa Parish, Buwatuwa Sub County in Namisindwa District.

In the incident took place on Friday, February 4, 2023. Eyewitnesses say that Masai accused his son of selling their land and properties last year without consent, and vowed to never to bequeath him any other properties.

A heated argument between the pair ensued, and ultimately resulted in Wetaya using a panga to slash off his father’s head, before fleeing the scene.

The LC3 Chairperson of Buwatuwa Sub-county, Sam Kundu, confirmed the incident and stated that they are searching for the killer.

He also advised residents to resolve their conflicts through proper channels such as the police or local leaders instead of resorting to violent means.

Authorities also encourage the use of mediation as a way to resolve land disputes. This involves bringing together the disputing parties to discuss their issues and work towards a mutually acceptable solution.

Incidents of violence over land disputes are becoming increasingly common in Uganda.
