UGANDA, Kampala | Real Muloodi News | The 30 June 2021 deadline for filing and paying Income Tax is looming, with only 3 days to go. Everest Kayondo, the Chairperson of Kampala City Traders Association Uganda (KACITA-U), and Mr Daniel Birungi, the Executive Director of Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA), urge all taxpayers to file their returns and pay their taxes ahead of the 30 June 2021 deadline.
Failure to pay taxes will result in penalties and interest. This joint business advisory message seeks to guide businesses to streamline their tax matters to safeguard against tax fines that result from tax non-compliance.
To that effect, the UMA Executive Director, Mr Daniel Birungi, urged “all manufacturers to comply with the requirement to file returns before the 30th June deadline. Tax compliance is not only good for the economy and vital for keeping the wheels of government turning, but also ensures that companies do not suffer undue interruptions to their operations occasioned by sanctions for non-compliance.”
Mr Birungi further commented that “…UMA teams are on hand to supplement the work of the URA in supporting struggling members to get their tax affairs in order and to ensure that all manufacturers submit their returns in time.”
In his guidance to the business community, the Chairperson KACITA, Everest Kayondo said, “I take this opportunity to urge my fellow Ugandans to file your tax returns. If you are a registered taxpayer and are obliged to file tax returns, then file your returns in time and pay.”
Even if you had no income, you are still required to file a tax return. Ensure that your filing is on record with URA so that you do not incur unnecessary expenditures.
In line with this message, the URA Commissioner General, John Rujoki Musinguzi committed that, “URA officers in all our stations across the country are ready to support the public in meeting this crucial deadline. In observance of the SOPs for the COVID-19 Pandemic, we encourage our taxpayers to utilize the online services to file returns and make payments via www.ura.go.ug.
