UGANDA, Wakiso | Real Muloodi NewsDominic Muhwezi, the younger brother of city businessman Frank Gashumba, has been accused of fraudulent activities in a land transaction in Entebbe.

He is charged with obtaining money through pretences, forging a land title and National Identification Card, and impersonation.

Muhwezi, who has been in custody for a month, was granted bail by Entebbe Chief Magistrate Stella Maris Amabilisi after his brother, Frank Gashumba, stood as a surety.

According to the prosecution, Muhwezi and his accomplice Jackline Namubiru sold 2 hectares of land in Bwerenga Zone, Katabi Town Council, Wakiso District to three people – John Asaba, Paul Wakooli, and businesswoman Adam Hijra – between August 4th and 15th, 2022.

The three buyers paid USh80 million, USh40 million, and USh30 million respectively.

However, they soon realised that the land titles they received were fake after they encountered each other claiming ownership of the same piece of land.

The genuine land owner, Ruth Kibuuka, got involved and asked the buyers to verify the land transaction with the Wakiso District Land Board.

It was revealed that the accused persons did not own the disputed land and the buyers reported the matter to the Entebbe police, leading to the arrest of Muhwezi and Namubiru.

This is not the first time that Muhwezi has been involved in dubious land transactions.

In 2014, he was accused of obtaining USh7.6 million from Christine Kobusingye by pretending to sell her a piece of land in Gayaza Village, Wakiso District, which he did not own.
