UGANDA, Kampala | Real Muloodi News | In 2017, Housing Finance Bank and Comfort Homes Uganda, real estate developer, signed a memorandum of understanding to ensure that affordable homes are available in the market and to increase mortgage uptake.
Mathias Katamba, the managing director of Housing Finance bank, said, “Uganda has a huge housing deficit, especially for low and middle-income people in urban centres. Partnerships such as this one will play a critical role [in solving that] and the real winner is one who is the home buyer.”
Katamba explained that the bank had adopted a strategy of partnering with real estate development companies, to reach out to more clients to not only grow its own revenue lines, but also contribute to the growth of the economy.
Quresh Shehabi, director of Comfort Homes, said the company had been looking for long-term partners through which to provide homes through a flexible payment system, to allow people to buy a home in a single tranche.
Three years after they signed the MOU, let’s explore some of the unique housing projects that Comfort Homes have developed that fall under this scheme:
1. Casa Marcella
