UGANDA, Wakiso | Real Muloodi News | Milton Twehangane, a senior pastor at Spiritual Arcade Church in Bweyogerere, finds himself remanded to Luzira Prison following his arrest for constructing a building in a wetland.
Appearing before the Standards, Utilities, and Wildlife Court, presided over by Judge Gladys Kamasanyu, Twehangane faced charges related to his alleged actions in Bukasa Veteran Zone, Kirinya Parish, Bweyogerere Division, Wakiso District.
The 57-year-old pastor denied five counts brought against him, including failure to conduct an environmental and social impact assessment, constructing in a wetland, depositing soil in the wetland, and conspiracy to commit a felony.
According to the prosecution led by Judith Nyamwiza, Twehangane was found on October 19, 2023, constructing in a wetland without the required environmental and social impact assessment and without lawful approval.
Additionally, he was accused of depositing soil in the wetland without authorization.
As the investigations have been completed, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) is prepared to proceed with the case. Twehangane’s remand is set until April 8, 2024, when the hearing is scheduled to commence.
