State House Anti-Corruption Unit Takes Action on Corrupt Top Land Officials

UGANDA, Wakiso | Real Muloodi NewsUganda has long been plagued by controversial issues surrounding land, which has often hindered development. However, investigations have revealed that land fraud and corruption starts at the Ministry level and trickles down to individuals.

In an effort to eliminate this corruption, the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, in partnership with the police, has taken action against 24 Ministry of Lands officials from over 20 districts.

These officials, including senior land registrars, physical planners, district land board Secretaries, surveyors, and cartographers, were charged for their involvement in the corruption. Out of the 24 officials, two have already been convicted and sentenced, resulting in them being banned from government work for the next ten years.

Additionally, the Unit has also arrested notorious land grabbers who have been working with Lands officials to steal land from innocent victims. Some of these land grabbers, such as Charles Kyagaba in Wakiso and Paul Mafumu in Mubende, have been charged and are facing consequences for their actions.

This action by the State House Anticorruption Unit was prompted by the Minister of Lands’ recent visit to the Mubende area, where she witnessed fraudulent land titles being issued. She requested the Unit to expeditiously investigate the matter and take action against the corrupt officials.

It is encouraging to see that the government is taking steps to eliminate corruption in the land sector and bring justice to those who have been wronged. The public is encouraged to continue reporting any instances of land fraud and injustice. By doing so, we can work together to create a fair and just land system in Uganda.
