UGANDA, Hoima | Real Muloodi News | The construction of Hoima Stadium is advancing into its second phase, with Turkish company Summa Construction undertaking a site inspection on Tuesday, January 23.

The inspection, led by State Sports Minister Peter Ogwang, took place at the designated 20-acre site in Kyarwiru, Hoima City.

The stadium, designed to accommodate 20,000 seats, is part of preparations to host matches for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The collaborative effort included representatives from the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), the National Council for Sports, and the contractors, all working together to assess the site.

The primary objective of the visit was to provide the contractor with a firsthand understanding of the ground conditions, facilitating the development of a stadium design. This design will subsequently be submitted to the government for approval.

Minister Ogwang expressed disapproval of individuals opposing the stadium construction, emphasising the plans in place for the already approved stadiums.

He called for full cooperation from residents and authorities to ensure the stadium’s completion within the stipulated timeframe of 18 months.

Moses Magogo, the president of FUFA, reported the successful completion of the initial phase, which involved the transfer of land titles to the government

Magogo highlighted the pivotal role the stadium would play in the socio-economic transformation of the people in Bunyoro.

Hoima City Mayor Brian Kaboyo announced the city council’s decision to waive all charges related to the stadium construction, demonstrating the local government’s commitment to the project.

Badru Mugabi, the Hoima City Resident Commissioner, assured thorough monitoring of the project to ensure its successful implementation.

The Hoima Stadium construction, projected to last 18 months, aligns to be ready for use by December 2025. The stadium is a significant undertaking aimed at enhancing sports infrastructure in the region and contributing to the overall development of Hoima City.
