UGANDA, Wakiso Real Muloodi News | The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Martin Okoth Ochola, has fired ASP Abraham Tukundane from his role as Wakiso District Police Commander, over allegations of conniving with land grabbers. Tukundane has been replaced by ASP Tai Ramathan as Wakiso’s new Police boss.

Tukundane stands accused by the family of the late late Erukana Kuwe of KUWE Foundation for conniving with Major Kassimu Beinomugisha from Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) headquarters Mbuya to grab their Land.

The family had taken Wakiso District Police officials and Major Beinomugisha to the State House on charges of conspiring with serial grabbers to forcefully take their family land.

The land in dispute is in Wakiso District on Block 306, plots 2612 and 6143 in Bbira, which are approximately 35 acres in size.

In a letter dated October 18 2021, Brig Moses Shaban Lukyamuzi, who heads the presidential task force on land matters, notified the RDC of Wakiso District that their office had received a complaint from the family and administrators to the late Erukana Kuwe’s estate that Major Kasimu Beinomugisha is forcefully attempting to grab their land located on the above block and plots.

Brig Moses further notified the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) that the High Court of Uganda Land Division had granted an interim injunction against Major Kasimu Beinomugisha, preventing him from developing on the disputed land. However, Beinomugisha went ahead and put soldiers on the land, violating the Court’s restraining order.

Brig Moses, as a result, directed the RDC to call a meeting and handle the problem, since it’s under his authority.

After numerous efforts to prevent Major Kasimu Beinomugisha from utilising the land, he instead connived with police officers assigned to Wakiso Division to forcefully grab the land and erect structures on it.

The family also wrote to the IGP, describing how Wakiso Police Officers had steadfastly failed to carry out Court orders of preventing Major Kasimu Beinomugisha from taking their land.

In a letter dated January 19, 2022, IGP Martin Okoth Ochola asked the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department to investigate the case and provide him with a definitive report. As a result of that report, he removed Tukundane from his role as Wakiso District Police Commander.

The IGP told the CID Director that “the family claimed that a team led by Kasimu Beinomugisha has grabbed, chased and beaten their guards, cut down the trees and destroyed their crops. The family also alleged that Beinomugisha is a serial land grabber who uses goons in support of security personnel in grabbing the land and defying court orders.
