Police Suspend Land Protection Unit Boss Amid Land Dispute Investigations

UGANDA, Ntungamo | Real Muloodi NewsThe Commander of the Land Protection Police Unit (LPPU) faces suspension amid allegations of mishandling a land dispute involving prominent individuals in Ruhama, Ntungamo District.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Johnson Olal has been placed on suspension following investigations conducted by the Police Inspectorate and the Police Professional Standards Unit.

While details surrounding ACP Olal’s suspension remain undisclosed, Senior Commissioner of Police (SCP) Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, refrained from providing further information pending formal notification from superiors.

The incident leading to the senior officer’s suspension reportedly involves a land sale to city businessman Robert Twinomujuni in June 2020.

Twinomujuni, along with his co-accused Samson Arinaitwe, faces charges related to the alleged forgery of a sale agreement for leasehold land in Rwampara Block 42, Plot 38, Ruhama, Ntungamo District.

The accused purportedly falsified the signatures of multiple individuals involved in the transaction.

Despite complaints lodged with the Ntungamo District Police Station, the case did not progress, prompting the complainants to seek assistance from the Police Land Protection Unit and the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) headquarters in Kibuli, Kampala.

Subsequent efforts to pursue justice led to the reopening of the case and heightened scrutiny on the officers involved.

As investigations unfold, attention has turned to the Office of the Administrator General, with authorities examining any potential involvement in facilitating the disputed land transactions.
