UGANDA, Hoima | Real Muloodi News | In a devastating incident, a fire erupted at the Hoima Chief Magistrates Court premises located in Kijungu cell, Hoima City, destroying numerous case files.

The fire, which began at approximately 6 a.m. on a Saturday 21st October 2023, is reported to have originated from the archives of the High Court, situated just a short distance from the Albertine Region police headquarters in Hoima East division.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, disclosed that residents alerted the police upon witnessing flames emerging from the Hoima Chief Magistrates Court premises around 6 a.m.

Promptly, the police dispatched their fire and rescue team to combat the fire and secure the area for subsequent investigations.

Hakiza further explained that they are currently reviewing CCTV footage to determine the precise cause of the fire. As of this afternoon, the judiciary had not issued any official statements regarding the incident.

Notably, this is not the first time such an incident has occurred in the region.

In December 2022, unidentified individuals broke into the Hoima Chief Resident State Attorney’s office and set several files ablaze.

These targeted offices are situated along the Hoima-Kampala road, close to the offices of the Resident City Commissioner (RCC), Hoima Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Albertine Regional Police headquarters, and District Internal Security Officer (DISO).
