UGANDA, Wakiso | Real Muloodi News | The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, addressed allegations of land grabbing claims made against him in Abayita Ababiri-Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso District.

During a meeting at Parliament on April 17, Tayebwa met with Esther Lubunde, the individual who accused him in a viral social media video.

Tayebwa denied the land-grabbing claims, asserting that his investigations revealed Lubunde had been misled by individuals who exploited her situation.

These individuals allegedly obtained a title for the land under the name of Culton Tayebwa, a minor, creating confusion and leading Lubunde to believe the Deputy Speaker was involved in the dispute.

In response to the video, Tayebwa stated, “When I saw the video, I was shocked because I have never owned land around Entebbe.”

He expressed gratitude to the public for helping him connect with Lubunde and further explained the misunderstanding caused by the presence of a land title in the name of a minor with the same surname.

In the viral video posted on X (formerly Twitter), Lubunde accused Tayebwa of land grabbing through his agents, identified as Patrick Nziza and Allan Nkubiito, and of causing her husband’s arrest.

However, during their meeting, Lubunde, accompanied by her father Rev. Semei Sebina and their lawyers, acknowledged that they were misled by individuals who encroached on their land.

“We have tried to find justice almost in all government offices in vain. However, one of the encroachers known as Patrick Nziza, told us to give up because we cannot win a case against the Deputy Speaker, Thomas Tayebwa,” Lubunde said.

Lubunde expressed regret over the false information and sought forgiveness from Tayebwa, explaining that the situation was compounded by the encroachers’ use of Culton Tayebwa’s name on the land title.

Tayebwa pledged to pursue the matter further to ensure justice for those affected and cautioned social media users against sharing unverified allegations that could harm reputations.

“We have followed until we got the current owner of the plot of land, and we found that indeed, he is also a Tayebwa. They have written a complaint about the whole process, and I have promised to follow it up with the responsible offices,” he said.
